Masquerade & recent goodness

Last Friday, the girls and I went to a Masquerade Ball and since we are super cool, we dressed up in old prom dressses, bought 5 dollar masks at walgreens (yes! walgreens, cool huh?) and got dolled up for the Ball. It was SO much fun!! We were missing Marinda & Heather though :( . At the "ball" we saw a lot of friends and had a blast dancing around. And by dancing around, i mean being ugly dancers and not caring how ugly we look because we're just that awesome :)

picture number 1) regular smiling picture
...but okay this one is more us...

We stopped by Ashley's so that she could change into a dress that better matched her mask, so while waiting we took beautiful pictures.

No need to tell us we're purrty,...we know :)

This is my friend Sirel-his aunt owns the house where the masquerade took place. It made my night when the girls and i showed up and Sirel said "My princesses are here!"...he's a sweetheart!

So when we got there we were dancing around and i saw a guy in a mask (refer to picture below) looking over in my direction. I didnt think much of it, until i realized he kept staring & i got "scared" cuz i had no idea who he was. He the proceeded to stand up and approach me, greet me and start dancing...THEN i knew who he was...haha Trevor!! Through the mask it was hard to recognize him but u gotta admit it's a sweet looking mask from Mexico :) Do u like the intensity of his face? haha!!

As we continued to make our way, we found "the boys" and not gonna lie, Taylors mask has to be the best one of the night. HAHAHA painted black...he would!!

Michelle & Tori are my partners in crime especially when it comes to dance parties. We spent the rest of the night dancing and dancing and dancing. towards the very end, i got SUPER tired and sat down with Trevor* & chatted it up with him haha. The girls continued to dance oh so purrty and i was so proud cause they were the best dancers in the entire place!
Afterwards, we continued with a tradition we seem to have started lately...I-HOP!!! gotta love frrrrench toast!! i seriously crave it!! it's yummmay!!!
Michelle: Cough cough...im sick..
me: boo you whore!!
name that movie!!! hahaha!!

Recent Goodness
....all is going well :) School is school and it's...going. haha i love it-dont get me wrong. But last night i only got 3 hours of sleep due to my obsessed studying for an exam today. I feel GREAT about the exam though so it pays off to study tons. CDC is going amazing! i love the dances so so much and i cannot wait for concert time :) especially for when we perform at the
temple!! I love this time of year!!...right now I'm super excited for Thanksgiving-i have my reasons ;) . But i'll be in Cali for it, so im hoping to get to be home for atleast a few days.
okay that is all for now. hasta luego!

Peru Peru Peru !!

Oh mi querido y adorado,Peru!!

I MISS IT!! I guess I forget how freaking amazingly wonderful it is that I AM FROM PERU! i was born in a 3rd world country where my family struggled but gained so much! A country that's poor, humble and with a corrupt government...but none the less...a country whose people have strong family values, traditions, standards, where people are humble but always sharing what little they have. Neighbors and friends who one is so close to that your children call them "tia" or "tio". i have several "tia" and "tio" 's in Peru haha :) . I love my culture!! growing up in the states, i do have a more dominating American Culture....but ohhh baby my Peruvian culture is a part of me and will forever be a part of me! I haven't gone back since 2008, but we plan to go in early 2010. I miss it SO much! my family, the people, the food, the environment...everything! Sure, after 2 weeks i start to selfeshly miss my comfort which is a huge bed, cell phone, car, etc....but it's so nice to spend weeks in a country where technology doesn't rule. Where you have to find a taxi to get to places and where you have to hurry on the phone so it doesn't charge you a lot. hehe. Having been born there and seeing the poverty level helps me to always remember who i am and where i want to go. I have the amazing opportunity to go to college!! to drive!! to have a cell phone!! things teens in Peru would never get the chance to have-such as an education, a car or phone privileges. I understand the value of a dollar-though of course i can sometimes be greedy and spend more than i have. Part of why i am SO educationally driven is because my cousins, brothers, parents, aunts and uncles in Peru never had the opportunity i have to go to college & get a degree. I WANT to go to school,...i GET to go to school. i dont HAVE to...i GET TO! what a BLESSING :) im rambling...this post makes no sense right now. haha but i LOVE PERU! i love where i came from, my traditions, my foods and my people. I am so fortunate to be an American Citizen and have the privilege to fly to Peru as much as i want. With each visit, my family and i do so much for the community and family. I couldn't begin to tell you all that we do-it's incredible how much we get done with the help of our Lord who guides and blesses us to be able to do what we do. When my family and i walk down the streets of our neighborhood in Peru, we LITERALLY get stopped every second by someone who knows or kenw my parents way back when! It's SO NICE to go to Peru and know that my community is more like a huge family. Everyone willing to give a lending hand at any given second, everyone willing to share what little they have and always ALWAYS sharing a smile and a hug. I give thanks for my unique life & blessing to be Peruvian-American and be able to do SO MUCH in both Peru & here. I cannot wait to go back and do more good work. Share the Gospel. Visit family. and more than anything....EAT EAT EAT...the food is AMAZING!!! oh con todo mi corazon, amo a mi Peru!

This would be my house in Peru :) homes in Lima are connected wall-to-wall and mines the corner one. it's actually 4 stories-you just can't see the other side. This is the home where little me took mah first steps and would dance around on the marble floors. I love it! I love having a home in Peru where i have my own room, pictures, radio, etc. It's wonderful-such a blessing!! I say it- I'M FROM PERU, I GO BACK OFTEN AND HAVE A HOUSE IN LIMA- but it doesn't hit me. It's a hard concept to grasp-I have a home and a life in South America where my family is, where i have neighbors and friends all 100% my original culture-WOW! it's wonderful to me!! i am tremendously blessed to be culturally competent and live both cultures :)

This is the presidential palace-im with my cousins.

My grandpa, Poli, and i at church. What a beautiful feeling to attend an LDS church in a country that not too long ago was lacking the Gospel. What a blessing to see that church absolutely full -past its capacity!! what JOY!!!

My ice cream buddy-8 years old working selling ice cream. I bought from him every day and prayed for him. I encouraged him to never EVER give up school and to always pray.To have dreams and to always go for his goals in life. He cried the day i left Peru, but i am sure he will remember my advice :) [[or so i hope]]

At a private navy port with my cousins!

Navy port with my papa!! He was in the Peruvian Air Force-he was top knotch. Everywhere we go he is greeted by all the uniformed guys...kinda dang cool!!
If anyone read this-wow you're amazing! it was long and all over the place :)

camping with friends!! It was SO much fun!! The only thing keeping it from being perrrfect was that Michelle couldn't go...busy busy girl!! The ride there was simple & setting up the tent was cake-thanks to Barry, Cole & Daniel using their boy scout skills to help us! haha! It was SO cold-im super duper smart i had only taken a blanket!! I was warm going to sleep but woke up in the middle of the night frozen. Breakfast was delish!! french toast=my love!! We all had a great time and I am so glad i was able to go on this trip with amazing friends :)

Nursing School Stress!

So this block I am retaking Microbiology for a higher grade in order to rock at pharmacology/patho. I am determined to get an A which at my school is between a 94%-100%. I UNDERSTAND microbiology, i could probably have a long conversation about all the microbes that cause disease in our every day surroundings and those that cause nosocomial infections. What stresses me out are the quizzes/Tests! i SUCK at studying! My micro is Medically Implied...therefore, I am supposed to be able to see a wound and tell you what bacteria caused it and all about that specific pathogen such as its scientific name, where you can find that pathogen, the incubation period, antibiotics, etc! INTENSE, right? I LOVE medicine and i would never give up my career...i just wished my school wasn't so demanding. I knew it'd be an advanced, accelerated program considering it's a private school but dude, give a girl a break! i can't wait to start my clinicals...but as for now, i gotta worry about knowing what kind of IV to give my patient whether it be hypertonic, isotonic or hypotonic in order to watch the cell count...uhh....anyone care to explain to me how that works? haha i love school :)

WORK!

I love my job! I truly am so blessed to do what i do because it's making a huge difference in the development of a child. Due to HIPAA, I'm not at liberty to blab out details. But, I am an autism interventionist with children specifically doing habilitation for cognitive development ,gross motor skills,social,self-help, etc. Something AMAZING that recently developed from my job is the opportunity to share the Gospel! The mother really is appreciative of me and therefore shares a lot of things with me-including her decision to investigate churches due to her feeling hers was not working for her. WHAT A GREAT OPPORTUNITY for me to share about my love for the church. After a long chat, she asked me to take her kids to activities and in result of them LOVING the activities, she herself decided she wanted to attend Sacrament meeting to see what we were all about. She really liked what i told her, now she just needs to pray and read from the Book of Mormon to gain a testimony herself. I can't wait for Sunday so i can invite her to church. What a blessing!! Im leaving out a lot of details of the conversation-just know, she felt the spirit and i am so thankful and amazed at the way the words came out of my mouth when sharing the Gospel.

DANCE!!

FINALLY it is time for Christian Dance Company! Last year was my first year in the company and this year i was blessed with the opportunity to be in the company once again. I LOVE CDC!! You can bare your testimony in many ways, a common one is my singing hymns in church or verbally baring it. But being able to use our talents to dance through our testimony of our Savior is beautiful!! i am SO grateful to have the chance to dance through my love and testimony and I cannot wait for this years concert!! I am in the Opening & Closing dance, as well as "Garden Walls" and "Oh Holy Night". My favorite part of the program is baring our testimony verbally before show time and feeling the spirit SO STRONGLY and so pure and divine. Words cannot describe what i felt that night...I bawled uncontrolled tears of happiness&love because the spirit was so strong that i have NO DOUBT in my heart that my Redeemer lives. I am thrilled for this years company!

Besides CDC, i am taking hip hop again which is a good work out. I'm not as pumped for hip hop as i am CDC, but i hope hip hop gets better (aka tougher!). I also just started taking Zumba classes...it kicks my butt!! Some of the latin moves are ridiculous...can you REALLY move your hips like that? haha i mean sure im latina and am supposed to have this naturally but d00d, zumba is intense!! great workout though!!

Life!

....is great!! I love life and all its blessings...and i have no doubt that it's because i have the Gospel in my life. Where would i be without the Gospel?...I dont even wanna thinkkkk about it! Sure, life has its ups and downs...specially at my age. Everyone is getting married, dating a lot & getting engaged. I can become frustrated with guys at times when they're being "dumb boys" (but i have no room to talk cuz girls can defintiely be "dumb" too). I dont date a lot, ...it's hard to find guys that will actually ask out on DATES! now a days it's "let's hang out sometime"...nothing specific and usually involved more people. So in the end, you had no idea that someone liked you..blah blah blah. I could go on about it...but i dont get frustrated anymore. i KNOW my Heavenly Father has a plan for me and when MY TIME IS RIGHT, that my "dating" problems will be resolved and i will meet someone right for ME & of course, to MY standards. Everything happens for a reason. Bad dating experiences, frustrations, break ups, arguments, etc...we are meant to learn and grow from them. So, i am patient & while i'm being patient and meeting new people...i am truly enjoying life!! Go with the flow, right? If it is meant to happen, it will. If not, i hope to make a good friend out of things :)

I have been tremendously blessed with 4 amazing girls in my life whom are my bestests (<--made up word, get over it). Marinda Hunt, Victoria Kate Wadsworth, Michelle Lee Stones & Heather Andrew. Amazing, intelligent, talented, worthy young women who are great examples to me & continue to amaze me every day! Each one of them are special in their own way & I seriously give thanks for them everyday! They are sincere and always there....my Heavenly father really loves me...i have the greatest family i could ask for, the opportunity to continue my education, work...& great GREAT friends. Life is BEAUTIFUL.

can't touch this!

It is Sunday. The girls and I chill at Michelle's house and watch "sydney White" which by the way is an AWESOME movie!! it ended around 12:20AM and Heather was tired & went home. Tori, Michelle & I were not hungry hungry....butttt we wanted a midnight food run. Where do we go?...IHOP!! the thought of bacon, hash browns and french toast were alluring!

We were SO tired but so anxious for our yummy food. When exploring the menu, everything became appetizing...so what do we do? we order a crap load of food!!! I usually get just an egg, hash browns & 2 strips of bacon, but nooot this time. i got scrambled eggs, hash browns, 2 bacons, 2 sausage, 2 hams & French toast!! Tori did too and michelle did too mius the sausage & Ham. When the food arrived, WE INHALED THE FOOD! We sounded like we had never eaten before...forks bouncing off plates and heavy breathing as we swallowed our food without chewing. HAHAHA it was HILARIOUS! we are not the cleanest eaters either...when finished, we had crums all over the table, including syrup that got all over my arm. we felt gross after eating...but oh wait, we still had room for more food. we ended our feast around 3AM!!!...can u imagine eating all that crap that late? talk about asking for an early heart attack!

None the less,...it was a great memory to build! The girls & I woke up with our stomachs full still yet we STILL had breakfast upon waking up. IT ROCKED!! i love my girls SO SO MUCH! i dont know what i'd do with out them...maybe i wouldn't be eating ihop at 3am :)

CALI-FOR-NEEEE-UHHH!!

Summer is basically over, and the ladies and I took a trip to the beautiful state of California! It was such a fun trip and very well deserved! Lemme break it down for ya ;)

Thursday:
Bright and early we gathered and hit the road towards San Clamente. The drive went by quickly as we sang along with the beautiful Jason Mraz! We drew on the window with dry erase markers and it was so fun! We put on a little hyphy as we entered Cali and got our groove on! haha!! We saw an accident on the freeway-a van was speeding and its tire blew out when it hit a side thingy...idk it was intense though but everyone seemed to be fine. We arrive in San clamente and ate Jack in the box & went over to Michelle's cousin, Andrea's house. She wasn't there so we hit the beach up!! woohoo for the beach!! we took pretty pictures (by pretty i mean silly!) and we played in the water. dont worry, a wave knocked all of us over and i ate it!! yeck!! After, we returned to Andrea's and got ready for dinner at Olive Garden :) . YUM!! I ended up getting a free meal due to a hair in my food, ha! Oh we saw a nasty couple...ill spare you details. HAHA! After dinner we returned to Andreas and i finally met her. She is such an amazing person...im sooo grateful for her hospitality. Her children are great too!! sweeethearttts!! We were exhausted so we crashed :)

Friday:
SEA WORLD for my very first time!!! oh the joy :) . I really enjoyed Sea World. Michelle has gone like 3 times this summer-lucky duck! hehe, it was so fun! i loved the sea lions soo much and the dolphins are soooo enchanting! haha we touched a baby dolphin that swam up to us, it was freaking tight!! I got a realllllly bad migraine headache which totally sucked but Michelle was smart enough to ask if they sold meds and they did so woohoo i was cured! lol. We rested and ate and saw a super hott guy with his cougar girlfriend...sooo sad haha! he was dang cute but his girlfriend looked twice his age. BLEH! Tori, Erica, Michelle and i went on a super fun ride that got us SOAKEd!! we also went on a roller coaster type ride which was super fun! basically, sea world ROCKED! we saw a dance show at the end and we fell in love with the drummers! haha, leaving sea world, we waiting for traffic to clear and while waiting, we blasted music and danced super cute...and by cute i mean ugly! haha definitely SO fun!! I'm sure california thinks we're crazy...but who shives a ghit, right? HAHAH!! It was late and we were hungry, so we made a taco bell stop...where we were disgusted by a guy AND girl leaving the girls bathroom...hmm? yeck!! the entire day was a super duper adventure!!

Saturday:
We slept in,...we definitely needed the rest. We were so tired and sore from walking around sea world. We ate breakfast and hit the road towards good o' Arizona :). we arrived home around 6:30. Later that night, we partied at a dance and started the "cupid shuffle"...THUPER AWETHOME!!

It was a fun weekend!! it was nice being away from arizona and this heat. I love these girls SO much and definitely am so thankful for the chance to do this trip with them. Friendships are so crucial to me , and having good friends like mine is a blessing i give thanks for everyday!!
